Board of Trustees Minutes
January 10, 2012
The Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:16 P.M. by Vice-President Tom Hillstrand in the Brown Parlor of First United Methodist Church. Members present were Ken Thornton, Steve Carpenter, John Stephenson-Love, Bill Wadman, Tom Hillstrand and John Frisbee, Pastor Terry Turner was also present. Anne Key, Rise Peloni, and Ruthann Knudson were absent. A quorum was present.
The election of officers for 2012 was held.
President: Bill Wadman
Vice-President: John Stephenson-Love
Secretary: Ruthann Knudson
Treasurer: Steve Carpenter
The minutes of the December meeting were not discussed.
Old Business:
John Stephenson-Love moved and Bill Wadman seconded a motion to pay Ken Thornton and Leonard Waring for work on the Solar project. The exact figure is not known at this time.
Terry reported that a $10,000 donation to the Solar Project Fund was received at the end of 2011.
Ken reported that we should be able to install photo-voltaic electricity generating cells can be installed as a part of the system which can reduce the church’s electric bill by as much as 70%. This is an addition to the passive hot water units already planned.
Funds have been received to pay the cost of improved hearing assistance devices for the sanctuary.
Work on the women’s rest room will resume soon.
Secretary’s computer needs to be replaced soon. John Frisbee and Tom Hillstrand will work of computer issues.
Work to improve the web site is continuing.
Ruthann Knudson is working on signage to direct people to our elevator.
Other items that had been discussed at the unofficial December meeting were tabled.
The Board thanked Bill Wadman and Rose Schuster for installing the French Doors in the Van-O Kitchen.
