The Super Bowl is next Sunday, and whether you follow professional football or not you can guess that Bill Belichick, coach of the New England Patriots, and Tom Coughlin, coach of the New York Giants, celebrated with their players briefly after their victories on January 22, and then they promptly went back to work. For FUMC many good things happened in 2011, and it is time to lift up and celebrate one significant step that we took as a church.

WE PAID $26,065 or 86.5%
of our CONFERENCE CLAIMS MISSIONS SHARES for 2011.
TIME TO CELEBRATE – EVERYONE CHEER
HURRAH!      HURRAH!      HURRAH!

I hope you celebrated, since this is the best we have done in many years. Now it’s time to get back to work. The Finance Committee recommended and the Church Conference approved a budget that included full payment of our mission shares for 2012. By taking these actions the members of FUMC have stepped out in faith, confident that when God gives the VISION God will make the proVISION.
During Lent we will once again replace nails in the cross with butterflies for each $100.00 we receive toward our Mission Share Commitment. As we contribute to this special appeal and the other special appeals that we make for special projects and needs next year remember that these special appeals should not subtract from our commitment to our church’s basic needs for payment of salaries, utilities and programs.
In the United Methodist Church the standard for giving has always followed John Wesley’s simple formula: Earn All You Can, Save All You Can, Give All You Can. When we understand that God is the source of all we have no one should ever feel guilty or too proud of what they are able to give
For the next 11 months of 2012 let us all get back to the work of supporting FUMC with our PRAYERS our PRESENCE our GIFTS and our SERVICE.
